HERO stands for Heating, Electricity, Recycling Officer. These students are chosen by their class to take on this responsibility within their classroom and within the broader school community. They are trained in their role and meet regularly with the Sustainability Leader. They discuss school issues, give feedback from teachers and students, offer ideas to make our school more sustainable and are part of implementing solutions and new initiatives.
The 2021 HERO’s have been sworn in by Captain HERO and are working hard to make Killara an even better Sustainable School

VEOLIA – FUTURE RESOURCERS
In August and September of 2021 the HEROs participated in the Veolia Future Resourcers Challenge. This free 6-week education program challenges students to develop a creative and innovative solution, known as ‘The Pitch’, with a focus on food waste in 2021. Schools present their solutions, and compete against other schools across the country for the ultimate title of Future Resourcers winner!
